DO Valencia

Geography
 
            Valencia is divided up into two separate geographical areas containing four subzones. To the north and east of Utiel-Requena is the northern section of Valencia that is bisected by the River Turia. This area contains the subzones Valentino, Alto Turia and Moscatel de Valencia. The second and more southerly portion of the DO is directly north of the inland portion of DO Alicante. The subzone of Clariano is within this smaller portion of DO Valencia.
 
Climate
 
            Most of the vineyards are located well inland from the coast and experience a continental climate. Although the entirety of the region can be generalized as an arid climate, the coastal portions of the vineyar

DO Utiel-Requena

Geography
 
            Utiel-Requena lies between the Turia and Cabriel Rivers within Valencia. The river Magro flows through the middle of the Utiel-Requena as well. The northernmost delimited area of Valencia surrounds Utiel-Requena to the north and east. 
 
Climate
 
            The climate in Utiel-Requena is incredibly hot with summer temperatures topping out over 100F. Technically the climate is Mediterranean with short, hot summers and long cold winters. 
 
            Average temperature: 42F-74F with occasional and lasting hot and cold extremes.

DO Alicante

Geography
 
            The Alicante DO is split into two separate areas along the eastern coast of the country. One area, Alicante, stretches northwest from the coastal city of Alicante. The northern boundary of this portion of the DO is joined by Valencia DO. The second zone is along the coast to the northeast of Alicante and surrounds the towns of Parcent and Calpe. This subzone, Marina Alta is directly east of the Valencia DO.
 
Climate
 
            Along the coastal section of Alicante, the weather is Mediterranean and includes hot and humid patterns. Further inland, a more continental and drier climate dominates.
